There are a lot of other reviews praising this thing so I'll skip all that. What I will say is that I worried a great deal about whether to spend this kind of money on a peripheral that I could pick up for $3. I thought a keyboard was a keyboard. In fact, the only reason I ponied up for this guy is because I needed a small keyboard and I wanted the keys to be properly arranged.

I repent! This is, by far, the best keyboard I have ever owned. It's a pleasure to type on (I know that sounds weird but it's true) and I haven't regretted the money spent for a minute. Do it, you won't regret it.

I have two HHKB lites, one at home on a Windows PC, and one at work on an iMac. I have tried all sorts of keyboards and these are the best. The smaller size is better for mouse etgnomics, the large control key (where the useless capslock would otherwise be) is great---I set it to be the Apple key on the Mac and Control on the PC, and this makes the basic keyboard commands the same on both systems. The action is not quite as good with mechanical switches (have to buy the $275 HHKB pro to get that, but then you lose the arrow keys), but it is actually improved if you get the tight fitting transparent HHKB keyboard cover sold by Fentek on the web. I might actually get a third one of these as a back up and for use on travel, they really are THAT great.

Fantastic keyboard to hacking things together in vim. I use it for everything from Starcraft to C++ and it hasn't yet let me down. Occasionally, the right shift key gets stuck somehow, and you need to hit it even though it does not appear to be down. For a keyboard this expensive, you wouldn't expect that kind of problem.

Great minimalist use of keys.

Wish the USB ports were 2.0.
